Our Technology

Rimaco Greens has made it possible to create a permanently sealed, fully isolated environment for optimal crop quality using minimal energy.

Instead of air exchanges or traditional A/C, temperature and humidity are controlled by the flow of water, air, and condensate through three separate, tightly heat-integrated loops. Wholly sustainable and economically viable, this innovative technology is a breakthrough in Controlled Environment Agriculture.

Key Benefits of Our Proprietary Technology

  • Provides a stable growing environment year-round

  • Designed to have a low carbon footprint and consider fossil fuels as a last source of energy, minimizing impact on both the grid and the environment

  • Capable of capturing and rejecting excess thermal energy or store it for later use without chemicals

  • Easily maintains target humidity level

  • Flexible to set up for any crop-required climate conditions and different growing techniques

  • Water used for evaporative cooling as well as the water from plant transpiration is recovered by producing high-quality distilled water/condensate without the use of dehumidifiers or getting the traditional reject from the reverse osmosis process.

  • Low energy consumption makes it easy to switch to renewable energy as the source

  • The hydrologic greenhouse is low maintenance and uncomplicated to operate and control

A natural solution to food security

We set out to engineer efficient control of climate conditions in a sealed greenhouse and found inspiration in Earth’s energy balance, where interactions between the sun, the water cycle, and large bodies of water create natural heating and cooling effects. Similar elements are adopted in the design of our Hydrologic Greenhouse to maintain a stable microclimate at minimal cost.

Water is well-known as the ideal material for thermal energy storage. In theory, a large mass of water inside a greenhouse should be able to keep the temperature stable through fluctuations in outside conditions. But until now, nobody has found a practical way to implement this solution at scale.

Rimaco Greens is the first to harness the power of water inside a commercial-sized sealed greenhouse in a way that is secure, space-efficient, flexible, and affordable.

No longer a theory but a proven feat of ingenuity

The hydrologic greenhouse is the first of its kind to be able to cool a sealed, translucent space without power-hungry equipment, store solar energy naturally for later use, and recover all evaporated and plant-transpired water, making it the most sustainable farming method yet. Its simple construction and low-maintenance materials make overhead and operating costs accessible, and therefore scalable. The isolation from external conditions means it offers stable optimal climate conditions, better thermal energy conservation, built-in pest protection and geographical adaptability.

Accessible, sustainable, pesticide-free: finally, food without compromise.
